Owned and run by the Catholic Bishops Conference of India (CBCI), National Institute of Social Communications Research and Training (NISCORT) is one of the premier institutes for Media studies. The CBCI decided to launch a New Institute of Social Communications research and training in 1996. In 1999, NISCORT moved to its temporary campus at Palam Vihar, Gurgaon, Haryana to commence its regular courses. In 2001 NISCORT acquired a 3 acre plot of land in Vaishali at the Delhi-UP border, and two years down the line, in 2003, it was formally inaugurated.
NISCORT offers Postgraduate Degree courses in Print, Broadcast (Radio/ TV/ Internet), Audio-Visual Communication and PG Diploma course in Media. NISCORT also runs several Short-term Certificate Courses in Pastoral Communication for Priests/Religious and Pastoral Communication Applications Course for Seminarians. Short-term courses like Video Editing, Digital Photography and Web Designing are also conducted at NISCORT.
